I ask Nina to pack for a weekend trip to Utica, but instruct her
to bring a gown and heels. Create a little mystery.
Drive her to my jeweler in New Hartford, NY and check stones.
She picks, he makes, and we go to lunch.
From the restaurant, I call and get plane tickets Albany-Boston and
book into the Copley Square Marriott.
Brief flight, we check in, take Nina to our room, and I go to see the
concierge.
The restaurant was the Top of the Hub at the top of the Prudential
Building, window seats overlooking Boston skyline, and a dozen roses.
At the end of the meal, I drop to my knee. In my peripheral vision,
I see a gentleman sweep his hand and Shhhh for silence in the room.
I make my plea, ask for her hand in marriage, and was rewarded with
a yes from her and applause from the entire room.
I was so nervous, I put the ring on the wrong finger.
Our neighboring table sends over a champagne toast.
We got straightened out and a limousine took us half-an-hour out to
the Randolf suburb to see the movie, The Matrix.
The jeweler is Lennon & Wilcox (Gary Lennon 315-768-4200) with our
compliments.
He saw us through engagement, gifts, and marriage including a custom
wedding band for Nina.
Sorry, no pictures.
