The Thai Baht traded ~35-40 per US$1.
On our first visit, we stayed at the Grand Central Hotel.
Nina's friend, Urai and Joe, treated us to a wedding photo shoot at
a studio. There were traditional Thai costumes and other dresses. Makeup
was applied to me for the first time since a fifth grade play. Nina's girlfriends
took turns adjusting clothing, pinning this there, and that just so. All
of the fussing and care produced some great photos as you shall see.
On our second visit, we stayed at the Amari Hotel at the airport.
We visited the Broken City and the Summer Palace by taking a boat ride
from the Oriental Hotel upriver for hours and returning by bus.
We visited the Grand Palace in Bangkok.
We discovered Video CDs - a format which DVD players understand. We
enjoyed the haggling in a market and found twenty favorites for 90 baht
each.
While we had been away, Jum (AKA the pink lady because everything of
hers is pink from cell phone to purse to clothing) had reviewed the proof
photos from our wedding shoot and had an album and portrait shots made
up. We were very pleased.
